The following family tree  pertains to the descendant, Thomas Moffatt (b. 1808, Shetland, Scotland) of John Moffatt (b. 1782, Shetland, Scotland) & Lillias Jamieson (b. 1774, Shetland, Scotland), with greater focus on Thomas’ children who emigrated from Scotland to New Zealand circa 1874.

Starting with Robert Moffat (c. 1675, Scotland) & Margaret Davidson (c. 1677, Scotland). Robert Moffat serves to provide a likely ancestor for all of the Moffats in Shetland, where records prior to 1750 are almost non-existant. Follow the lineage from Scotland, to the Shetland Isles and onward to South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

The following family tree, focuses and pertains to the descendant, Thomas Moffatt of John Moffatt & Lillias Jamieson. It is an ongoing and work in progress.
The current tree has beeen compiled by me (Alana Moffatt) with documents and the majority of the original tree from Mrs Margaret Chirnside (2003) and information supplied from https://genealogy.clanmoffat.org/. Please join our Moffatt Family (NZ/AUS/SA) group, if you are on Facebook.

A little about who I am – Alana Moffatt, (middle/twin one) daughter of Jock Moffatt and Karen (Tisdall), Grandaugther of Leo Moffatt & Heather (Speden). Born in Dunedin, raised in Clinton, currently residing in Wanaka with my partner and daughter.
